Historical Worship

Filed under: -News — Administrator @ 10:45 am

Worship expresses the beliefs of the church. Through the centuries, the worship of the church has reflected the political and social climate of each historical period. In every time the church has called people to worship, and through that worship has challenged them to be faithful disciples of Christ who is Head of the Church.

Beginning February 3, and continueing each week through Lent we will worship according to a different period in the history of the church. From the Jewish tradition of 300 BC / to the early church of 155 AD / to the middle ages / the Reformation / Colonial America / the American frontier / and 2008, we will explore the various outlines as well as styles of language and music.

Lent is a most appropriate time to learn about, and to experience, the worship traditions of the church through the ages.

Annual Congregational Meeting

Filed under: -News — Administrator @ 10:41 am

For some reason there are always persons who seem to think it isn’t important to attend a congregational meeting – “FALSE”. This is your congregation, and it is important for you to know all about what it is, and what it does, and how it does it. Hence the statement which has been included in the bulletin, “Everything you always wanted to know about the United Presbyterian Church of Harrodsburg, Kentucky but were afraid to ask”.

Copies of the 2007 Annual Report are available in the Church Office. The annual congregational meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 3, following the morning worship. A pitch-in / potluck lunch will be served (fried chicken and drinks provided). Childcare will be provided, if needed, during the meeting.
