United Presbyterian Church Harrodsburg

The Session of the United Presbyterian Church of Harrodsburg will have their next monthly meeting on Sunday, March 16th at 4:00 P.M. at the Church.

Beginning June 2008, the United Presbyterian Church of Harrodsburg will no longer be using Post Office Box #245 for mail delivery. We have installed a mailbox near the side entrance of the Church and our mailing address will be: 326 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

Since the storm on Ash Wednesday, we have been working with the insurance adjuster, the structural engineer (from the insurance company) and contractors to determine what needs to be done to our two buildings, and what it will take to do the work which is needed. There is one insurance policy for the “church building,” and a separate policy (but with the same company) for the “Academy.” We have come to an agreement with all parties concerning the work which needs to be done on the church building roof. The insurance will pay to have a 25-year shingle roof put on the sanctuary portion of the church building, and to replace the tin roof which is over the education / office part of the building. The Session on February 24th upgraded that work to be a 30-year shingle roof on the sanctuary and a Flexion (50 millimeter thick) Roof System on the education / office section. The cost for the upgrade is a total of $3,814. In addition, there is a $1,000 deductible on the church building. We are responsible for the $4,814, and you will be hearing more about that soon. The other costs will all be covered by insurance. Additional repairs to the church building / steeple are still being worked on.

Some details are still beging discussed for the roof on the Academy. What we know is that the insurance will pay to have the current tin roof removed and replaced with wood decking. There is an $1,000 deductible on the Academy. The remainder of the roof will be our responsiblity as far as cost is concerned. The type of roof which will be installed is the same as that which will be installed on the education / office section of the church building. The funding that was already appropriated from manse reserve funds for roof repairs to the Academy, will now cover the cost of the new roof. Again, additional repairs to the Academy are still being worked on.
