Early 4th Picnic

Filed under: -News — Administrator @ 9:00 am

This is a reminder that our Early 4th Picnic will be held on Thursday, June 26th at 6:00. The picnic will be held indoors so we don’t have to worry about the weather – the bugs – or walking on the uneven lawn of the Academy. Everyone is asked to bring a dish (salad, veggies, dessert, ect.). Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, condiments and table service will be provided. The Clyde Jackson Quartet will be providing entertainment. Come for an evening of food, fun and fellowship!
REMINDER: Don’t forget your “admission fee” of non-perishable food for the Christian Life Center Pantry.

PNC Report

Filed under: -News — Administrator @ 7:26 am

Using the Presbytery’s referral system, self-referrals, and advertisements, the PNC sifted through more than 40 personal information forms of potential candidates for the position of Pastor for United Presbyterian Church.

From this pool, the PNC winnowed the field to five candidates who met all the requirements and standards most important to the congregation as judged by the input from the congregational meetings and surveys that were put together last fall.

The PNC requested sermons from the group of five candidates who met all the criteria. At this point, one declined to participate. Of the four whose sermons were reviewed, only one met all the expectations for the PNC, and he had already taken a position to his liking.

At present, the PNC has two later-arriving self-referrals who have passed the standards of Church’s interest, and we have requested sermons from both of them.

These will be reviewed, and the PNC hopes that one or more will be suitable to request an interview and visitation to a neutral pulpit, which would be the final step in he selection process before presenting the candidate and his qualifications to the Session.

Non-Perishable Food Collection

Filed under: -News — Administrator @ 7:12 am

Presbyterian Women, Kate Riker Circle, is challenging the congregation to provide non-perishable food for the Christian Life Center Pantry. Our goal is to collect 150 items every Sunday until the end of July.

Everyone is encouraged to bring donations to the Church Office, or place in the baskets provided in the back of the sanctuary.
