PLEDGE SUNDAY – 2009 BUDGET
By now you have received a letter with a copy of the proposed 2009 budget. If you haven’t read it, please do so as it is most important. Remember, October 12th is “Pledge Sunday.” (Art is not preaching on stewardship that day – so we’ll see you in worship.)
Please return your pledge card by the 12th, that way we will not have to follow-up with you afterwards.
As the Session said in their letter, “We hope that you will prayerfully consider your financial commitment to our congregation. We are counting on you for the year 2009.”

WHAT THE WIND DAMAGED, HAS BEEN REPAIRED
$249,767.26 (not a final audited figure – but it is close) was spent to repair the damage done to the 2 buildings by the February tornado. All the work is now finished, and the bills have been paid. Insurance paid for almost all of the damage. The congregation contributed $5,292.88 toward what the insurance did not cover (thanks). Reserve funds of the congregation paid for the replacement of the roof on the Academy (before the storm hit). Included in all of this – did you notice that the cross on the steeple of the church has been straightened?
Many thanks to all the people who have had a hand in monitoring the work that has been done.
A separate project has been the landscaping in front of the Academy – go see.
Another separate project has been the resealing of the parking lots (church and Academy) – now stay within the lines and remember the handicapped spaces.
225th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Two BIG days, October 25th and 26th – mark your calendar and invite family, former members and friends to join us for all of the following:
Saturday – 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Reception for the congregation in honor of our former pastors,
to be held at David and Susan Shewmaker’s
1211 Perryville Road
(watch for the balloons as to where to turn in)
This is planned to be an “Hors d’oeuvre Supper.”
You will want to greet and visit with the former Pastors. This will
be your best opportunity to do so. Come, have a good time together.
Sunday 10:30 AM, A Brass Quintet from UK will play preservice music.
Take note of the early time.
10:45 AM, Morning Worship
Former Pastors George Aichel, Doug Slagel, and Less Rust, and will all have part in the service, together with Richard Smith the General Presbyter of Transylvania Presbytery. James Foster Reese, a native of Harrodsburg and friend of the congregation will be preaching.
As we celebrate this auspicious occasion we will gather at the Lord’s Table to share together the Eucharist.
You are asked to sign up on the chart in the rear of the sanctuary, or
call the Church Office, to make a reservation for lunch. Lunch will be catered at a cost of $10.00 per person (1/2 price for kids 5th grade and younger).
12:15 PM, Lunch in the Fellowship Hall
The program, after lunch, will be an audio-visual presentation
of the history and current members of the congregation. We are interspersed with our history – watch for your picture in the montage.
A great weekend is being planned – don’t miss any of it!
