After assessing the safety of the parking lot and many of the roads that our members would have to travel to get to church, we have unfortunately decided that canceling church on Sunday, Feb. 1st, is the wisest course of action. If you are able to get out and about safely, feel free to use this as an opportunity to visit others who are unable to get out!
The Kate Riker Circle meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2nd, has also been canceled due to the weather.
Please stay safe and warm!
Upcoming Lenten Bible Study Series:
Andy and Stephanie will be leading a Lenten Bible Study Series, following the PC (USA)’s Moderator Bible Study, I Believe: 40 Daily Readings for the Purposeful Presbyterian Alive to God in Jesus Christ. The author of the study is Rev. Dr. Joseph Small, the Director of Theology, Worship, and Education for the PC (USA). The book includes 40 devotional readings and a five-session study guide, so even if you are unable to come to the Bible Study, you can join us in spirit as we travel through the same devotional guide during this season. We will meet Tuesday evenings from 7-8pm, and Wednesday afternoons from 2-3pm, starting Tuesday, March 3rd and continuing through Easter. We will repeat the same study at each session during the week so that you can choose what works best for your schedule (even on a week to week basis). The cost of the book is $12.95, and we need to place orders by Feb. 12th in order to have the books arrive in time to be distributed the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. If the cost is prohibitive, scholarship assistance is available. Please contact the church office by Feb. 10th if you would like us to order a copy for you. Even if you are unable to attend the studies, we are confident that this will be a helpful devotional tool for home use. If our order volume exceeds 25, the per-book cost drops to $10.95.
You can read more about the book here.
Due to the snow and ice, power outages, and other hurdles, the church office will be closed. If you need to get in touch with either of the Co-Pastors, please use our personal email addresses or cell phone numbers. Andy – wingap1@yahoo.com or 859-612-2316; Stephanie – sorgewing@gmail.com or 859-612-2317. Please stay safe in this weather!
In addition to our regular services and meetings, we have a few special events coming up this month.
Sunday, Feb. 8th – Congregational Meeting directly following the worship service
Wednesday, Feb. 11th – 2pm – Mary Weber will lead a class at the church and teach us how to make beautiful necklaces that she has been selling to raise money for Living Waters for the World, a mission of the Synod of Living Waters that installs water filtration plants in communities across the world that lack clean drinking water.
Wednesday, Feb. 25th – Ash Wednesday Service, Location and Time TBA
Saturday, Feb. 28th – Trip to the Louisville Zoo. We are able to get in for $5 per person. Please watch the website for additional details. You can sign up by calling the church office or by signing up on the bulletin board outside of the church office.
