November 2020

Dear UPC family,

Your Session met Thursday for its stated meeting, and we spent time discussing what we should do in terms of meeting for worship every other Sunday. Having spoken in person, by telephone, text, and email to many of you, we know the majority of our membership feel that the virus is simply too dangerous at this point for us to meet in person. Our congregation is vulnerable, and Session feels that we need to listen to what you have to say and make decisions for the welfare of all. Session will meet Dec. 3rd to once again reconsider our decision, based on what is happening between now and that time in terms of the virus. As I'm sure you know, our county is red which is troubling. We encourage all of you to pray for our city, our county, our state, and our country during this stressful time. May God lead us to do what is right to protect ourselves and others.

Thank you for being the caring community of believers that you are. Session also appreciates your support as we continue to make decisions that seem to flip flop back and forth. This virus is just unpredictable which makes any decision we make temporary. One lesson we have all had to learn is flexibility which is a difficult lesson at the best of times. Pray for your Session members and for one another. Ultimately, if we listen, even in the midst of great turmoil in our country, we can hear that still small voice of God speaking to each of us as we need.
